Known as the whale watching capital of the Oregon Coast, Depoe Bay is home to a large population of resident gray whales. These friendly giants can often be seen close to shore, especially during their annual migration in late spring and early summer.

Depoe Bay is also a great place to see other marine wildlife, including sea lions, harbor seals, and porpoises. State Parks in the area include Boiler Bay, Rocky Creek State Park, Devil’s Punchbowl, and Cape Foulweather.

If you’re not into whale watching, there are plenty of other things to see and do in Depoe Bay. The city is home to several art galleries specializing in local crafts, a variety of restaurants serving up fresh seafood, and the scenic Depoe Bay Waterfront.
