Newport is one of the coastal cities in the U.S. state of Oregon and is located on Yaquina Bay in Lincoln County. It was founded in 1866, incorporated as a city in 1882, and named after Newport, Rhode Island. Newport’s economy has traditionally been based on fishing. A television show on the Discovery channel featured Newport’s crabbing industry. Newport is also the home of the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum. There are many attractions including the Yaquina Lighthouse, and Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. Watch see lions down the bayfront area, are check out artisans in the Nye Beach area.

The city is also home to a number of festivals throughout the year including the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival, the Jazz Festival, and The Wooden Boat Show. The Rogue brewery also has tours and you can crab on the bayfront.
