Battle Rock Wayside
The crown jewel of Port Orford, this massive sea stack is connected to the shore by a sandy spit accessible at low tide. It's a site of historical significance and offers incredible climbing, tide pooling, and photography opportunities right from Highway 101.
Free parking and beach access. Best visited at low tide.
Cape Blanco Lighthouse
Perched on the westernmost point of Oregon, this is the oldest standing lighthouse on the coast. The grounds offer sweeping views, tours of the historic lens room, and trails leading down to secluded black sand beaches.

Port Orford Heads State Park

The Dolly Dock
Port Orford has no natural deep-water harbor, so fishing boats are lifted out of the water by giant cranes and placed on trailers (dollies) on the dock. Watching the fleet launch or return is a unique daily ritual found almost nowhere else.

Hughes House
A beautifully restored 1898 Victorian farmhouse located near Cape Blanco. Built for pioneer dairyman Patrick Hughes, it offers a glimpse into early settler life on the wild coast, surrounded by pastoral fields and river views.

Prehistoric Gardens

Humbug Mountain Trail
A challenging but rewarding climb through old-growth forest to the summit of one of the highest headlands on the Oregon Coast. The views from the top peek through the trees, but the real magic is the lush, fern-filled forest journey.
Port Orford Heads Trail
A gentle, family-friendly walk leading to three different viewpoints. You'll see the Nellie's Cove, the expanse of the Pacific, and the historic lifeboat station site. Great for whale watching.
Cape Blanco Coastal Trail
Winds along the bluffs from the lighthouse down to the Sixes River. The trail offers constant ocean views, windswept grassy plains, and access to miles of lonely, driftwood-scattered beaches.
Blacklock Point Trail
Located north of town near the airport, this trail passes through dense forest before opening up to a spectacular, remote sandstone cliff viewpoint that feels like the edge of the world.
Elk River Trail
